Books, books, books!
I’ve devoured two more books! First up: Neil Gaiman’s The Graveyard Book which just won the Newbury Medal for most outstanding contribution to children’s literature. The Graveyard Book is the story of Nobody, a boy who is raised by ghosts in a graveyard after a tragic incident. There are also illustrations by Dave McKean, who has worked with Gaiman many times, including one of my favorite booksThe Day I Swapped My Dad for Two Goldfish. I loved this book. It was so so good.
The other book I read was What I Saw and How I Lied by Judy Blundell that won the National Book Award for Young People’s Literature. The NYPL has a good review here. I really enjoyed reading it, and would have loved reading it as a teenager.
The next book on my list is completely different from what I have been reading so far this summer. After a year of hard work getting my Masters I needed some fiction. Now I’m ready to go back to the world of non-fiction. Up next is Howard Gardner’s latest book Five Minds for the Future. Gardner is one of my hero’s, so I’m really excited to read this book.
